This half term our focus story has been The Bad Tempered Ladybird by Eric Carle. In The Bad Tempered Ladybird, we follow a ladybird who doesn't like to share. She picks a fight with all the other animals she meets to try to get what she wants. The trouble is that the animals get larger throughout the story. We have enjoyed discussing the story and choosing our favourite characters. The story encourages us to share and value friendship. The children have been painting and collaging their own ladybirds and counting out their spots.
We have also been working hard on our cutting and colour mixing skills. We’ve investigated how colours can be changed and we’ve been cutting up playdough to support our fine motor skills.
We have transformed our home corner into a hairdressing salon and the children have really enjoyed taking it in turns to be hairdressers and choosing their favourite hair styles.
