Autumn 1 Learning in the Under Threes Room

October 18, 2023

In the Under Threes’ Room we have been very busy settling in and getting to know all the new children and families. To help us get to know each other we have enjoyed our ‘Hello’ songs, where we sing to all the children and staff by name. We have also created a family book, filled with pictures of the children, their friends and families. It’s great to have a look through and prompt conversations and help us get to know each other and who is important to our children. Please send us your photos if you haven’t already.

For our work about autumn, the children have been printing with the leaves and sponges and creating spider pictures as we sang about ‘Incy Wincy Spider’. We have also been finding spiders in our sand tray! The children found it very exciting searching for the spiders and sorting them into tins. We also used ladles to help us scoop them up. We have created an autumn tray, filled with lots of interesting autumn materials which the children have been very eager to explore. They had lots of fun using the tweezers to pick out the spiders, conkers and leaves and got very excited when they found more things hiding under the leaves!

We are helping to promote the children’s independence by encouraging them wash and dry their own hands and to butter their own toast. They are doing a great job at this and we are so proud of them! We have been using lots of Makaton as we learn new words and the children are doing a great job signing/saying, ‘More’ and ‘Drink’ especially at mealtimes.

All the children are settling in really well and we are so proud of all their achievements so far. We are looking forward to an exciting and action packed Autumn Term 2.
